About SAE

The Society of Afghan Engineers was formed in 1993 by a group of Afghan engineers in Northern Virginia and surrounding areas who believe that they have a moral responsibility to help the grief-stricken people of Afghanistan. This Society is not an agency of the Afghan Government or any other government. In addition, they are careful not to encroach upon, bypass, or circumvent the legal authority of the agencies of the Afghan Government in advocating financial and technical aid from donor organizations. Rather, the Society is designed to serve as a catalyst or consultant to governments or institutions interested in receiving or providing financial and technical assistance for the reconstruction of Afghanistan. As a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, the SAE is tax-exempt and is authorized to engage in cultural, educational, literary, and charitable activities.
